BzzAgent Review: Kashi Hummus Crisps

Another review for the amazing BzzAgent website for Kashi Hummus Crisps. As always, although I was provided this product for free, this is my own opinion.

I was really excited to be able to try this. I am a HUGE hummus fan. I really can't get enough of the stuff. So when BzzAgent sent me an e-mail about the campaign, I jumped at a chance to participate.

As always, some information about the product first. Kashi Hummus Crisps are air-poppped chickpea crisps that are made without partially hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, or artificial anything. They have at least 5g of whole grain, 3g of fiber and 3g of protein. What is even more fantastic is that the serving size is 27 chips! And only 120 calories for that 27! Can you believe it? Compare that to most chips out there (I'm looking at YOU, Doritos!) that only have a serving size of 11 chips for more calories! So it's an all around healthy snack.

The Kashi Hummus Crisps that I got were the Sea Salt & Olive Oil flavor. Right away as I opened the bag and took a whiff, I knew I was going to be in love. They smelled delicious! I popped one into my mouth and I was NOT disappointed. They were puffy, airy and just delicious. You could not just taste the sea salt, but the olive oil as well, which was shocking to me! Even with that, the flavor wasn't overpowering enough that I couldn't also taste the chickpeas. Texture-wise, they weren't quite as crispy as I would have preferred. I figured I wouldn't get the same crunch as with normal chips, but I worry how it would hold up getting wet when used with a dip.

All in all, if I had to give this a rating, I would give it a 4/5, mainly because I wasn't quite a fan of the texture. But mouth feels aside, I absolutely loved it. As a huge fan of salty chips, I couldn't get enough. Between me and my family, the bag didn't last much of the day. It also comes in two other flavors: Caramelized Onion and Sundried Tomato Basil & Feta. I've heard the former is very reminiscent of Funyuns, and the latter like a margarita pizza. The price is a little on the expensive side, but that is how it seems to be with healthier snacks vs the "naughty" ones. These won't be completely replacing my more unhealthy options, but they will definitely be something I will pick up every now and then.

Living with Borderline Personality Disorder

Mental health problems affect around one in four people in any given year. They range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.    BPD is much more common than you might imagine. A recent study on the prevalence of mental health disorders in the U.S. found that about 1.6 percent of the population has BPD. ... In fact, about 75% of those diagnosed with BPD in the U.S. are women.    I've had Borderline Personality Disorder most of my life, and it definitely has been a struggle. I wanted to go over the main things about it and my personal experiences. I hope maybe this helps someone else that has it, or to help anyone understand it more in general. If you want to share this, please do. Trigger Warning : I will talk about some disturbing and personal things, but I feel it could be good for others and cathartic for myself as well. We have an intense fear of abandonment. So we frantic...

Skeptical Keurig User Turned to the Instant Side

Here's my reveiw for the Nescafé Memento. A quick note: This package, including samples and coupons, was sent to me by BzzAgent as one of their advertising campaigns. However, this is my own blog and my own opinion on the product. I rarely use instant coffee. I've always been the type who had to have it properly brewed. One who worshiped her Keurig. I just always counted it among those things you use if you ran out of stuff to brew and couldn't swing by a coffee shop. When I received the BzzAgent e-mail to try Nescafé Memento, I figured I would give it a shot, but I was very skeptical. Monitor not included. Now on the box, there is the typical packaging that you see a lot of times for coffee. A nice hot cup with foam. I was actually surprised that, there was actually foam there! It wasn't as much as you would get from a coffeehouse, but the fact there was any was impressive. According to the box, it uses real nonfat milk that is infused with airy bu...

Drug Trials’ Encouraging Results for Borderline Personality Disorder

I wanted to link to a fantastic article over at the Personality Disorders Awareness Network about drug trials that were conducted that show two medications that might be beneficial to those of us with BPD. Unfortunately due to the nature of BPD, there is no medication that can take the place of therapy, especially Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. But medication is a great supplement to help manage our moods like irritability, depression and aggression. This article goes over Zyprexa (Olanzapine) and Seroquel (Quetiapine). http://www.pdan.org/drug-trials-encouraging-results-for-bpd/ Have any of you been on either of these medications? How did it affect you? On a side note, I apologize for the lengthy time between posts and for this sorter post today. Sometimes it is difficult for me to talk about my own dealings with BPD. Next post I hope to cover Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, how it is beneficial, and my own experiences, so keep an eye out in the coming days for that!
