From within the ashes, there will rise a smoke

Hello my lovely readers! It has been a long, long time since I have posted. I decided that I would love to get this blog back up and running. I'm going to keep a majority of the old posts, but some have gone.

This blog will cover a wide spectrum of things, from some game and product reviews, to talking about mental health, technology and sharing some of my artwork. So not too different! I'm excited to start writing about mental health in general and my journey.

I hope that any of you that still read, and any that come by in the future, will enjoy what I post!

Color Club's Halo Hues: Eternal Beauty

I've been painting my nails since I was a kid off and on, but it wasn't until recently that I finally started getting into nail care, polish and designs. I really want to show off the amazing polishes I find and designs I do, so I'm joining the multitude of blogs that also do so. I know there are others that do it way better than me, but it's something I love! I never heard of holographic polishes until recently, and sadly a lot of the places that did make them (I'm looking at you, OPI!) have discontinued them. So far the only one's I've tried are the Layla brand ones (which are about $15 a bottle) and Color Club (which are about $7). A little while ago, we got Eternal Beauty from the 2013 Color Club Halo Hues holographic collection and I've been so excited to get to try it! Holy holos, Batman! Eternal Beauty is a dark not quite purple but not quite lavender color. What's wonderful about it is that it doesn't matter what light you a...

Flower Flame

There's a wonderful program called Apophysis 7x that let's you make some really neat images with fractal flames. Before I show the pictures, let me explain what a fractal flame is. It's a member of the iterated function system, which is a method of constructing fractals. They are comprised of many possible geometric shapes, commonly called variations in the fractal community. It was created by Scott Davis in 1992. His open-source code was ported into Adobe After Effects software, and then translated into Apophysis fractal flame editor. According to Fractal Architect , they are rooted in pure mathematics, but you don't need to understand that theory to create beautiful images. If you want to learn more about it, you can click here , but a warning: it's quite mathematically intensive. There are some pretty amazing things that you can make in Apophysis, but it does take a lot of work to get the results. After some help from different communities though, I was fina...

Fractals and Pokemon

I've been quite busy the past few months and neglected to update the blog! Hopefully soon I will also be able to post about Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Some of the things that relate to my Borderline Personality Disorder can be difficult to discuss about, but I want to talk about it in the hopes that it helps someone. But for now, I hope you enjoy some of the newer art I have been working on. One of my dear friends really likes Vaporeon and Eevee. I haven't drawn anything in years, but I wanted to try to give him something special. I used a reference image that I found online on my second monitor. The original image was from a coloring page on a site that had many, so I do not know the original artist. I will add a credit here as soon as I find out! Here is the original sketch. As you can see, I cannot draw a straight line for the life of me. I use an (old) Wacom Bamboo tablet, but even with a nice pen, I can't draw straight. Which is fine, since then I...
