Fractals and Pokemon

I've been quite busy the past few months and neglected to update the blog! Hopefully soon I will also be able to post about Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Some of the things that relate to my Borderline Personality Disorder can be difficult to discuss about, but I want to talk about it in the hopes that it helps someone. But for now, I hope you enjoy some of the newer art I have been working on. One of my dear friends really likes Vaporeon and Eevee. I haven't drawn anything in years, but I wanted to try to give him something special. I used a reference image that I found online on my second monitor. The original image was from a coloring page on a site that had many, so I do not know the original artist. I will add a credit here as soon as I find out! Here is the original sketch. As you can see, I cannot draw a straight line for the life of me. I use an (old) Wacom Bamboo tablet, but even with a nice pen, I can't draw straight. Which is fine, since then I

Jellies and Bobbles and Fractals, Oh My!

It's been a long time since I've worked on anything art related. It's been hard to come up with new ideas and stay motivated. However, I did sort of recently play around with Apophysis 7X (you can see my other project with this program here ) to create 3D  flame fractals  and had a blast. So I wanted to post a few of pieces that I worked on. Click on a picture for a larger view. If you want to see some more of my artwork (that may or may not be horrible), click here for my Imgur album, which is sorted from newest to oldest. I hope you enjoy! (Also please note that they are signed with my old married name, Boseman.) Bobbles and gems Color variation From up top  Jelly fish! Variation of the jelly fish. A friend mentioned that it reminded him of metroids from the Metroid games. This is my favorite out of the bunch.

Drug Trials’ Encouraging Results for Borderline Personality Disorder

I wanted to link to a fantastic article over at the Personality Disorders Awareness Network about drug trials that were conducted that show two medications that might be beneficial to those of us with BPD. Unfortunately due to the nature of BPD, there is no medication that can take the place of therapy, especially Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. But medication is a great supplement to help manage our moods like irritability, depression and aggression. This article goes over Zyprexa (Olanzapine) and Seroquel (Quetiapine). http://www.pdan.org/drug-trials-encouraging-results-for-bpd/ Have any of you been on either of these medications? How did it affect you? On a side note, I apologize for the lengthy time between posts and for this sorter post today. Sometimes it is difficult for me to talk about my own dealings with BPD. Next post I hope to cover Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, how it is beneficial, and my own experiences, so keep an eye out in the coming days for that!

Living with Borderline Personality Disorder

Mental health problems affect around one in four people in any given year. They range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.    BPD is much more common than you might imagine. A recent study on the prevalence of mental health disorders in the U.S. found that about 1.6 percent of the population has BPD. ... In fact, about 75% of those diagnosed with BPD in the U.S. are women.    I've had Borderline Personality Disorder most of my life, and it definitely has been a struggle. I wanted to go over the main things about it and my personal experiences. I hope maybe this helps someone else that has it, or to help anyone understand it more in general. If you want to share this, please do. Trigger Warning : I will talk about some disturbing and personal things, but I feel it could be good for others and cathartic for myself as well. We have an intense fear of abandonment. So we frantically try to avo

BIC Soleil Balance Women's Razor

Please note that while I received this product for free from Smiley360, these opinions are completely my own! Normally I use dollar store shavers because it's the cheapest. They aren't horrible, but they aren't the greatest either. I would find myself having to make pass after pass to be able to get a close, smooth shave. When I got the opportunity to try the Soleil Balance, I was a bit skeptical. I had tried razors in the past that claimed to have moisturizers on them, and they tended to really do nothing.  When I got the razor, it came in a nice two pack, so I was happy about that. The first time I used it, I initially used some soap as shaving cream as I normally do, but I noticed it was sudsing up a lot more than normal. I decided to give it a real test and try the other side with just the razor sans anything. I was surprised at how well it actually lathered. It has 5 blades that bends to get into the spots that I can get nicks on the most l

From within the ashes, there will rise a smoke

Hello my lovely readers! It has been a long, long time since I have posted. I decided that I would love to get this blog back up and running. I'm going to keep a majority of the old posts, but some have gone. This blog will cover a wide spectrum of things, from some game and product reviews, to talking about mental health, technology and sharing some of my artwork. So not too different! I'm excited to start writing about mental health in general and my journey. I hope that any of you that still read, and any that come by in the future, will enjoy what I post!

SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes

Am in love with the SweetTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes. I'm a sucker for Twizzlers, so when Smiley360 gave me the opportunity to tries these, I hopped on board and received the Cherry Punch flavor. They taste fantastic.  The outside tastes like a normal cherry flavored rope candy, but the inside is filled with a tangy Cherry Punch filling. And unlike other rope candies, they are not tough or waxy, just a chewy, smooth texture with a nice kick. They come in a pack of 8, and are only 45 calories per rope to boot. Definitely worth getting again! Please note that while I received this product for free from Smiley360, the opinions are my own.

Pizza Dip

I love dip. Probably a lot more than I should. I stumbled upon a few recipes talking about pizza dip, and thought it was a fantastic idea. However, I found a lot of them lacked exactly the spice that I wanted, so my friend and I came up with our own version. I love this recipe because it doesn't take a lot of time to prepare, and takes even less time to cook. Which is a plus in my book. You can serve it with chips, crackers, or my favorite: sliced french bread. Pizza Dip Ingredients 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened 1 cup pizza sauce 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp basil 1/2 tsp Italian spices 1/2 tsp parsley 1 tsp sugar (optional) 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Sliced black olives Pepperoni slices    Instructions Spray a microwave safe dish with non-stick spray. In a separate bowl, soften cream cheese by microwaving it for 30-45 seconds (or leave it out to soften for a bit beforehand).

Smiley360 Review: Kikkoman Juicy Bird Project

So recently, I was chosen for Smiley360's " Kikkoman Juicy Bird Project ". In this we were to brine a chicken or turkey using Kikkoman Soy Sauce. Although I received these items to review for free, this is entirely my own opinion. I also apologize ahead of time for my usually horrible pictures as my cell phone has trouble in low light. I think it's time to start using a proper camera! "Experience the taste of umami in your meals with Kikkoman Soy Sauce . Try cooking with this dynamic sauce in traditional Asian dishes, mainstream American foods, classic Mediterranean dishes, Caribbean cuisine, or even to brine poultry." I've never brined poultry before, so I was excited to participate. I received not only 2 coupons for a free bottle of Kikkoman Soy Sauce, but a 5 gallon brining bucket as well. First, here's the recipe that was recommended: Kikkoman Chicken Brine Recipe Ingredients 2 cups Kikkoman Soy Sauce 2 Gallons water 1
