Drug Trials’ Encouraging Results for Borderline Personality Disorder

I wanted to link to a fantastic article over at the Personality Disorders Awareness Network about drug trials that were conducted that show two medications that might be beneficial to those of us with BPD.

Unfortunately due to the nature of BPD, there is no medication that can take the place of therapy, especially Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. But medication is a great supplement to help manage our moods like irritability, depression and aggression. This article goes over Zyprexa (Olanzapine) and Seroquel (Quetiapine).

Have any of you been on either of these medications? How did it affect you?

On a side note, I apologize for the lengthy time between posts and for this sorter post today. Sometimes it is difficult for me to talk about my own dealings with BPD. Next post I hope to cover Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, how it is beneficial, and my own experiences, so keep an eye out in the coming days for that!

Living with Borderline Personality Disorder

Mental health problems affect around one in four people in any given year. They range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.    BPD is much more common than you might imagine. A recent study on the prevalence of mental health disorders in the U.S. found that about 1.6 percent of the population has BPD. ... In fact, about 75% of those diagnosed with BPD in the U.S. are women.    I've had Borderline Personality Disorder most of my life, and it definitely has been a struggle. I wanted to go over the main things about it and my personal experiences. I hope maybe this helps someone else that has it, or to help anyone understand it more in general. If you want to share this, please do. Trigger Warning : I will talk about some disturbing and personal things, but I feel it could be good for others and cathartic for myself as well. We have an intense fear of abandonment. So we frantic...

Smiley360 Review: Kikkoman Juicy Bird Project

So recently, I was chosen for Smiley360's " Kikkoman Juicy Bird Project ". In this we were to brine a chicken or turkey using Kikkoman Soy Sauce. Although I received these items to review for free, this is entirely my own opinion. I also apologize ahead of time for my usually horrible pictures as my cell phone has trouble in low light. I think it's time to start using a proper camera! "Experience the taste of umami in your meals with Kikkoman Soy Sauce . Try cooking with this dynamic sauce in traditional Asian dishes, mainstream American foods, classic Mediterranean dishes, Caribbean cuisine, or even to brine poultry." I've never brined poultry before, so I was excited to participate. I received not only 2 coupons for a free bottle of Kikkoman Soy Sauce, but a 5 gallon brining bucket as well. First, here's the recipe that was recommended: Kikkoman Chicken Brine Recipe Ingredients 2 cups Kikkoman Soy Sauce 2 Gallons water 1...

BzzAgent Review: Special K Nourish Hot Cereal and Nutrition Bars

Another review for the amazing BzzAgent website for Special K Nourish. As always, although I was provided this product for free, this is my own opinion. I was actually really excited to be able to try these. Ever since I started losing weight, I've been eating a lot of hot cereal and nutritional bars. I really like Special K's other products, and was hoping that I would be adding something new to my breakfast/lunch routine. First, let's go over the facts about Special K Nourish. The hot cereal is made with a multi-grain blend of quinoa, oats, barley and wheat. It's packed with protein, fiber, and vitamins A, C and E. It's only 190 calories and comes in Cranberry Almond, Maple Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Raisin Pecan. Each cup comes with a section filled with nuts or fruit to mix in after cooking. The bars are between 160-180 calories and come in Lemon Twist, Cranberry Almond and Dark Chocolate Nut. So on to the good and bad. The good? I love the idea of...
